Garbage & Recycling

he Town of Koshkonong has chosen Badgerland Disposal as the contractor for trash and recycling collection service. All town residents are required by ordinance (Sec. 8, Chapt. 3) to use the service chosen by the town and recycle all materials as possible. We encourage all residents to minimize the production of waste that is sent to our landfills. Waste reduction and recycling is critical for the long term health of our environment.

E-Waste (electronic waste) is now picked up during bulk pick-up weeks.
Do not take your e-waste to the compost site in Fort Atkinson. 

Compost Site Information

The Town of Koshkonong contracts with the City of Fort Atkinson for the use of their Compost Site for the Town Residents.

The Compost Site is located east of Whitewater Avenue on Bark River Drive behind Memorial Park and is available for use by residents in the City of Fort Atkinson AND the Town of Koshkonong. 

The site is open for seasonal hours determined by the City of Fort Atkinson, generally from April to December.  Hours: Wednesdays 3:00 pm to Sunset and on Saturdays 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Compost

Township of Koshkonong residents may drop off the following at no charge—

Acceptable items include: Leaves, grass clippings, garden waste and brush; electronic recyclables including flat-screen TVs and monitors, computers, VCRs, fax machines, radios, CD players and cell phones; small appliances including toasters, microwaves, vacuum cleaners, blenders, fans and air conditioners; and large appliances including stoves, refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers, washers and dryers.

Before unloading large appliances, please clean out all food, remove glass shelving and remove the doors.

Unacceptable Items include: concrete, rocks, lumber, rubber, paper, plastic, glass, lawn mowers, furniture, batteries, lightbulbs, smoke detectors, mercury containing devices, X-Ray devices, exit signs, contaminated medical equipment, material containing Polychlorinated Biphenyl (PCBs), and items powered by gasoline, diesel, kerosene due to fire hazards.
